Brow Lift in MI

Brow Lift in MI

A brow lift in MI, otherwise called a “forehead lift,” lifts your eyebrows and makes your forehead look free of fine wrinkles, frown lines, and brows that may be beginning to sag. Those vertical frown lines that look like “11” between your brows can be reduced by surgically lifting the brow.

Danielle DeLuca-Pytell, M.D., F.A.C.S., “Your Girlfriend the Plastic Surgeon®” is ready to discuss your procedure with you, including your goals for the surgery and realistic outcomes. Schedule an initial consultation today to learn more about our facial plastic surgery offerings.

Brow Lift Plastic Surgery Procedures

Nonsurgical Botox injections in the forehead to smooth brow lines and wrinkles can create the appearance of a lifted brow. The effect lasts three to four months and is not permanent. Dr. DeLuca-Pytell can inject Botox to treat the “11s,” forehead creases, and crow’s feet. Patients return three to four times a year to maintain the results.

Depending on complexity, a surgical brow lift in MI can take two to three hours. Some patients want a more long-lasting improvement and choose surgical restoration, where their brow is physically repositioned. In this case, the procedure is performed under full anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

Dr. DeLuca-Pytell performs the “Gliding Brow Lift,” which allows the skin to “glide” over the subcutaneous tissues. Held in place with temporary sutures called a hemostatic net, this technique reduces the risk of nerve injury and avoids having to create holes in the skull.

Brow Lift Aftercare and Outlook

Plastic surgery care following a brow lift is manageable if patients follow proper steps in the healing process.

Patients go home the same day the brow lift is performed and resume gentle activity after two weeks with return to full activity in six weeks.

Dr. DeLuca-Pytell will instruct patients that, for three days post-op, they must elevate their heads to reduce any swelling, both when upright and in repose. After two weeks, swelling should subside, and she will recommend cool packs to reduce swelling, but they are to be placed only on either side of the forehead—without actual ice being in contact with brow incisions. Patients generally return to school and work between the tenth and the 14th day after surgery. It is important not to strain or lift heavy weights during recovery.
