This breast surgery is for women inverted nipples. Inverted nipples are present in about 1 in 10 women. This is caused by tight ducts within the breast limiting the projection of the nipple. It is most often congenital (born with this), but can be a sign of a problem (breast cancer) if it occurs later in life. Nipple inversion can be distressing to women who feel they do not look like everyone else. Aside from self consciousness, it can make breast feeding more difficult. Inverted nipple repair in Troy can correct this appearance, allowing for nipple projection. This can lead to improved self confidence. Patients are healthy individuals who do not wish to breast feed.
This procedure cuts the short ducts attaching the nipple to the breast. The nipple is then sewn to itself to keep it projecting outward.
Everted nipples!
Nipple projection is the goal of this surgery, and this will make them more visible in clothing. For those with severe inversion, there is a chance that the nipple can invert again. A nipple pierce can help to keep the nipple everted. Eventually, it could be removed.

All surgery carries risk. I recommend patients carefully weigh the benefits of having surgery against the potential risks which may arise. If you smoke, it is imperative that you quit six weeks both before and after surgery. Risks include pain, infection, bleeding, damage to skin, nerves, blood vessels, inability to guarantee a bra cup size, dissatisfaction with the appearance of the breasts, breast asymmetry, unsightly scars, blood clots in the legs which can travel to the lungs (deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism), wound healing delays, loss of sensation of the nipples, death of nipples, and death of skin. A complete list of risks will be discussed with you before surgery.
